8 Acre "Wildlife Sanctuary" Created on Smith Ridge Road

With great joy we report that a gift of 8.254 acres on Smith Ridge Road to the New Canaan Land Trust was completed today at 10:47am at the Town Clerks Office.

This is the largest gift to the Land Trust in over twenty years and brings the total open space permanently conserved and under stewardship to 379 acres.

Along with Legal Counsel from David Rucci and Kay Jex, significant support and guidance was provided by Frank Walsh of RKW Surveyors and Town Planner Steve Kleppin. Our thanks to you all.

Our deepest thanks to do our donors who wish to remain anaonymous for this extraordinary gift! These natural woodlands and wetlands create an ideal wildlife corridor along the headwaters of the Poorhouse Brook. This gift will stand the test of time and hopefully inspire others to do likewise.

With our very best wishes for the New Year,

The Board of the New Canaan Land Trust
